My Day At The Flea Market

I had a fantastic day at the flea market today! There’s absolutely so much you can get for so cheap a price. It’s practically like a large outdoor yard sale for a family the size of the Waltons! I bought a samurai sword, an antique computer, and I was almost going to get a megaphone for sale but unfortunately I didn’t have the cash on me after I had bought practically everything else there. I also managed to stop by the food court that they had there, and I got myself a two jumbo-sized hot dogs and a large drink for only $2.50. I’d have to recommend that everyone goes to their local flea market, if only just to see what’s out there.

Do Not Look Under the Bed

I was cleaning the bedroom and I couldn’t believe all the things I had under my bed. I am a bit of a slob and the space under my bed ends up being a hiding place for junk when I’m too lazy to clean up properly. Also things just seem to find their way under there. You never know what you might find if you happen to be brave enough to take a peek beneath my bed. The other day I found a fire extinguisher of all things. I have no idea where it came from and I don’t remember buying one.

high schools sports event

I used to love high schools sports days. It was a great time to spend with friends and compete in my favorite sports. I used to enjoy the running, particularly short sprints. The only negative element about the event was when the worst teacher in the school used to practically scream into the mini megaphone. This used to happen on a regular basis during the events. He used to constantly update everyone on which events were coming up. I think maybe he did it a little too often. It was so loud. Once he stood behind me with it and shouted into it. I got the fright of my life.

Fire which was one of the most useful discovery by our ancestors, it gives light, heat and cooks our food too. Fire is a useful thing but if not careful it can burn down everything near it. Fire fighters are one of the ways to extinguish a fire they have advanced instruments to quench fire and they are trained too. One of the equipment I like most are fire hose reels with its long pipe which is a channel to carry water or foam in a very high speed which makes the fire die. It’s a very useful and powerful instrument fire fighters use.

Amongst other first time experiences, including eating new fruits and squirming at the idea of eating crickets, was my introduction to lady-boys. Walking down Bangkok high street with my parents I made eye contact with possibly the most beautiful woman I’d seen – at the tender age of nine – this stare was held for a while, until we were about to pass her, at which point, she said – in the deepest voice I’d heard – “Hello, boy”. I smiled, digested what had just happened and, turning to my father asked, “Daddy, was that… a man?”

None of us fully understanding the situation blindly followed his instructions thinking my father had merely just lost a pair of jeans to this man. Out of morbid curiosity we returned after the specified time to find not one, but two pairs of jeans. The original had been perfectly reconstructed and a new pair of Levi jeans had been perfectly forged to the exact fit my father required. They were better than any he’s bought in a Levi shop he’s continued to remark to this day.

The markets were interesting too – I remember my dad being coaxed into removing his jeans for a stall owner who promptly began to take them apart. I can still remember the shock on my dad’s face to this day. Fortunately, he had some shorts on him too, so his embarrassment (though not his lack of understanding nor frustration) soon subsided. The owner asked my dad what his favourite brand of jeans was, whilst now being in the middle of a frenzy unstitching these jeans. My father replied “Um, Levi, I guess”, the owner merely nodded his head and said, “Okay. Come back in 3 hour”.

Thailand. What a beautiful country. Weird and wonderful. Filled with lovely people, lovely weather and lovely food. I was around 9 years old the first time I visited and instantly loved the place. The variety of fruits available, at next to nothing, still fascinates me to this day. Pomello. That’s my favourite. It’s segmented, similar to a grapefruit or orange, just much bigger and much, much nicer.
